Bentonite

1. Drilling Industry

Bentonite is a primary component of drilling mud. Its function is to stabilize the borehole walls to prevent collapse, lubricate the drill bit, and most importantly, lift rock cuttings from the bottom of the wellbore to the surface.

2. Foundry Industry

Bentonite is used as the main binding agent for foundry sand. Its plasticity provides the strength and stability required for molds when molten metal is poured.

3. Cat Litter

Bentonite's properties of swelling and absorbing liquid make it the main ingredient in clumping cat litter. This simplifies cleaning and effectively absorbs odors.

4. Construction & Civil Engineering

Bentonite serves as a sealant and a water barrier. Its swelling properties are used to line the bases of landfills and to create underground slurry walls to prevent water seepage.

5. Animal Feed & Fertilizer

It is used as a binder to compact animal feed into strong pellets and reduce dust. Additionally, bentonite can bind to mycotoxins that may be present in feed.
